Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre (GHCT) has been actively pursuing the purchase of a building in downtown Hamilton for the past three years. While Miami University's Parrish Auditorium will continue to be the primary performance facility, this new building will be put to use as the "home base" for the organization and will also provide space for set construction, auditions, rehearsals, costume and prop storage, ticket sales and meetings. The facility will also be offered to other community arts groups for their use and can be used as a "black box" performance venue.
Purchase has been made of the former Palace Theater building at 215 S. Third Street, Hamilton. GHCT has several revenue sources for the necessary renovation of the building. These include annual set-aside money, grants, gifts and bequests. Additionally, GHCT has begun a Capital Fund Campaign, the first-ever for this organization.
The renovation and rehabilitation of the Historic Palace Theater is under way, and the resulting facility will provide some spark to the downtown Hamilton re-development effort. It is hoped that all members of the GHCT family, as well as the Hamilton-Fairfield community, will join in lending financial support to what we all believe is an important and exciting step in GHCT's as well as Hamilton's, future.
